[DESCRIPTION]
Komorebi is an ambitious, sustainability-driven school project that harmonizes architecture with nature.
Located at the intersection of two major urban promenades in Yverdon, the new building preserves permeable surfaces and full soil, fostering biodiversity and thermal comfort. Classrooms open onto sheltered outdoor extensions, supporting nature-based learning. The schoolyard is reimagined to accommodate diverse activities and age groups, while retaining nearly all existing trees.
A hybrid concrete-wood-metal structure reduces energy use and supports natural ventilation via solar chimneys. A green roof and photovoltaic panels enhance environmental performance, making the campus a resilient, multifunctional public space for education, sports, and community life.
