BUREAU BARME

In a mountain setting, an old granary dating from 1906 was moved into the owners' garden and converted into a guest house. 

The work was deliberately minimal, respecting the vernacular spirit of the building while adapting it for contemporary use. The limited space has been optimised by a simple layout : strip roof windows bring light into this previously unopened space, while an openwork mezzanine allows light to filter down to the ground floor. The exterior envelope has been completely refurbished, providing protection from the elements.

This project brings new life to a local heritage by combining constructive memory with current needs.
